Oladipo O. Ogundipe

It was with great shock and sadness we learnt of “Olu’s” untimely death in November 2010.

Olu, as we knew him, acted as an adviser to Partnerships in Health Information from 2004. In 2006 he joined the Board as a Trustee. Throughout this period he made a valuable contribution to our affairs, bringing an experienced and unique  perspective to Phi's work. Phi was pleased to work closely with him in arranging a very successful workshop for Nigerian health librarians, which was held in Benin city in  November 2008. Without Olu this important event could not have taken place.

Olu was a true professional whose dedication and sheer hard work in the service of the profession was unceasing. He was University Librarian at Benin University and headed services at universities in Sierra Leone, Zambia and Trinidad and Tobago. He served in a great variety of roles and was a pioneer, writer, speaker, practitioner, and mentor, who was well known in the highest professional circles nationally and internationally. We in Phi honour his memory and shall miss both his advice and friendliness.
